What critics are saying about the minimalist blog: "this is not the most stylish of blogs, coming across as rather crude".

IcanHasCheezBurger (dot com) is hiring a .Net developer. Before seeing a job posting for their organization, I never thought about the business side of their site. But I suppose they have all the same needs as any other company. I'm imagining their office, with all of its emails, employee policies, and bulletin board notices written in LOLspeak and adorned with cat pictures. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Dr. Rick wrote to say the delightful clock in my local pizza shop isn't the only one in existence. He has one near him as well. And he did some research to learn that it was patented, but the patent has expired. So go ahead and re-make one if you want.

I took Ruhlman's advice and made my own mayonaisse. To my unrefined taste buds, I don't see a huge improvement over jar mayo. Certainly not worth the effort. But it was fun to try once. Once. I used it to make chicken salad.

I've been on Twitter for a few days now; here are early thoughts. First, I actually like that it's slow and crashy. That contributes to the wobbly and dangerous feeling of using something new and exciting. Also, the suits won't move in and take the fun out of it until it has five nines availability. Second, Merlin Mann is funny. Third, I would have expected more copycats by now. Fourth, Kofno points out that most of my minimalistblog entries are less than 140 characters, so I've got a lot of practice, no?

Gasoline is no longer cheaper than its inflation-adjusted historical high, so people who have been saying that today's prices aren't really the highest they've been can now shut the hell up. And in about 40 minutes, we'll be paying more for gas than Europe and Japan, so those folks will be able to simmer down as well.

If you've got about 30 minutes to dedicate to the history of pop culture, rock and roll, and -- as it turns out -- nerddom, you should check out Part 1 and Part 2 (YouTube) of an interview with KISS. Tom Snyder got Gene to say "Klaatu barada nikto" and Ace to talk about his RC helicopter....both of those things seem pretty nerdy to me for a rock band.
