I've been reading Cryptonomicon. It is over 1100 pages long! I'll post a review when I'm done, but right now I'm at about the halfway point. In an interesting case of Synchronicity, I just finished a chapter named Santa Monica, which is the city I was in last week. That fourth paragraph describes the beach near the pier in a way that Neal Stephenson can but I can't.
